About Katie Waechter

Katie is on a mission to make healthcare and mental health more accessible and understandable for Nevadans.
She was born and raised in Las Vegas and graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno, and an MS in Information Science with a focus on mental health informatics from the University of North Texas. She began Watch Media Group in 2018 and has been a freelance journalist since 2020.
Katie is a published writer and poet. She is a passionate mental health advocate and has been heavily involved with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) for over seven years.
Katie’s passion in life is to bring healthcare news to the forefront and make mental health information more attainable for the people who need it most. She hopes to share the stories that matter and make a difference for healthcare and mental health across the country.
